Mall Fever

by Allison Lee and Sierra Dutton

I must go down to the mall today,
to Contempo and the Gap.
And all I ask is the credit card
and a downtown plaza map.
And the tiled floors, and the swinging doors and the giant escalator,
and the parking lot, and the ladies room, and the Macy’s elevator.

I must go down to the mall again
for the call of the super sale
is a loud call and attempting
call whose commercials never fail.
And all I ask is a ride from
My Mom and a little extra cash,
and a shopping cart, and some
tennis shoes, and clothes that
Do not clash.

I must go down to the mall again,
to the hectic shoppers way,
to the bargain hunter’s life, and
the big buyers life where the
money’s gone in a day.
And all I ask is a food court burger
and a quick ride home that’s free,
and a trip back the next day
to finish my shopping spree.

Haiku before My Surgery

Kidney on the left
it is my favorite one.
Mind the ureter.
